Whether this is your first or fiftieth event you will be catering, it is always stressful. Catering a party or event requires a keen understanding of aesthetics and an appreciation for presentation. Once you know the details of a particular event, obtaining the right catering supplies is the next step. With the superfluous amount of servingware choices out there, you’ll want to be sure your catering display choices are the best fit. You will need to know the particular catering supply type for y
When catering an event, one may often miss the vitality servingware has to the ambiance of the entire event. While the food/refreshments being served is of course a key part in catering, how the food is staged will also affect the result of a caterer’s success. For those who are just entering the catering world, or the amateur host, it is important to understand that there are two types of catering:

• On-premise
o All food is prepared, cooked and served at the site of the event
• Off-premise
o Some or all food may be prepared and cooked at one establishment and then catered and served at a different site for the event

When the details of the event are made and it is known which of these types of catering will be used, it is time to find the right catering supplies for the occasion. If you are planning to use on-premise catering, you may not need to worry as much about servingware, because in many cases the hosts of the party will supply the serveware. On the other hand, when using off-premise catering, caterers often come equipped with servingware that may or may not be compatible with the affair. If you are using off-premise catering, it is a good idea to research what catering supplies those caterers may use. In many cases, catering companies are equipped with several options that may help fit with your catering needs.

A common problem with both styles of catering is that a caterer’sselection ofhigh-enddisplays may not be as versatile as you may need thecatering supplyto be. Often, for events like wedding receptions, anniversaries, birthday parties or luncheons, in addition to being elegant, there is also a theme that goes with it. Having a high end catering display that does not correlate with the theme may cause imbalance in the overall set up. For this reason, it is a good idea to always research your catering company before finalizing the arrangements. Ask the company questions about their catering supply resources, and ask to see examples of the servingware they have readily available.

When events are catered, whether elegant or casual, there are usually large variations of food and beverages being served for the affair. Keep in mind, if you are serving refreshments that need to be kept at specific temperature, you will have to plan accordingly and make sure that you have the right amount of space and types of servingware. It is suggested that all the foods that need to stay warm should be kept together, and all those that need to be cold should be together with some space in between the sections. While this may play a big role in the ambiance of the structure, the purpose is to avoid any temperature shifts that are unwanted. Depending on the types of serveware used, some may be more delicate than otherswhen they are exposed to change in temperature. It is a good idea to know the limitations of the servingware to prevent any kind of unwanted mishaps during your event.

Special occasions are just that, special. Memories are made, shared and enjoyed for years by those who attend. With that in mind, having an event that is staged to perfection with absolutely no criticism will allow those memories to be good ones. When catering an event, the focus will always be on what is contained in the serveware rather than the servingware itself. That is not to say however; the catering display shouldn’t be just as perfect as everything else.
