Feet are the most used and the most abused part of the human body. The arches of the feet are said to provide flexibility, absorb shocks, and also help in distributing the weight of the body. They also help us in adapting to the various changes like walking, running, jogging etc. Proper care should be taken care of the feet. If this is not done then it leads to injuries, neck and shoulder pain etc. For a human being to maintain a good balance and control of the body it is important to have healthy and strong feet.
People run and jog regularly and those who practice high impact games usually get tired and sometimes even swollen feet. The swollen feet causes usually due to accumulation of fluids in the feet. Proper foot exercise and care helps in healing any feet troubles and also helps in having healthy feet. If the pain or swelling is more, then it is better to take the advice of the doctor. Mentioned below are some exercises to heal the feet and keep them healthy.
1. Exercise 1: The first step is to keep the feet firmly on the floor parallel to each other and some distance apart. Then the toes should be lifted and lowered. The small toe should be raised to the same level as the big toe. This exercise should be repeated 4 times. Then on the lift the toes should be spread as wide as possible. This exercise helps in strengthening the muscles of the front lower leg and the toes.
2. Exercise 2: In this exercise, all the 10 toes should be leveled up. The big toe should be pressed to the floor and this step should be repeated 8 times. Then, the small toes should be lifted up and down 8 times as well. This exercise should alternate between the big toe and the small toe. This is said to develop the neuromuscular connection with the feet.
3. Exercise 3: Lift the heel of the right foot and then slowly drop it to the floor. This step should be repeated 8 times. With the lifted heel the ball of the feet should be moved from left to right. The same exercise should be repeated with the left feet as well. The exercise develops flexibility in the forefoot area and also stimulates the reflexology points of heart and lungs that corresponds in the feet.
4. Exercise 4: The fourth exercise is griping the floor with the toes and then releasing it. This movement is called doming. This is known to stimulate the movement of arch lifting.
Proper foot care is very important to have a healthy body. It is important to wear proper shoes for exercise as well as while walking or other activities. Proper footwear also plays an important role in maintaining good and strong feet.
