De Waterkant is a tiny suburb on the slopes of signal hill sandwiched between the more popular Green Point and the city centre. This gentrified neighbourhood has become popular with the young up and coming set of Cape Town and has a selection of fine dining restaurants, cafes and bars.

De Waterkant is a modernised extension of the Bo Kaap which it sits aside; the houses all have the same charming architecture and colourful paintwork to those of its neighbouring suburb. In the past couple of decades the area has been taken over by the young and trendy of Cape Town and visiting one of these houses is like stepping into an interior design showroom. That said the cobbled tree lined streets and colourful exteriors make the area a unique place to stay when visiting Cape Town.

De Waterkant accommodation can be hard to find as it is a small suburb with a large residential population, there is however some self-catering rental apartments that offer all the comfort and privacy of staying in your own house with the beautiful surroundings of a world class resort. All the facilities you would expect in a hotel such as a pool and a gym as well as a Laundromat are available to the guests. There is secure off street parking and parking for any visitors that you may have.

This charming neighbourhood is ideally situated whether you’re in Cape Town for a flying business trip a leisurely romantic getaway or a busy tourist attraction filled vacation. It is within 3km of the Cape Town international convention centre and a short 21km trip on the highway to the airport.

If you’re looking for Cape Town apartment rentals for a leisurely or romantic holiday this too is perfect. Situated not 6km from the world famous Clifton and Camps Bay beaches and within walking distance of the many fine restaurants to be found at the Cape Quarter shopping centre you’re assured of been able to relax day and night.

One of Cape Town’s lesser known attractions is the noon day gun, which sits directly above De Waterkant. This is Cape Town’s oldest tradition, at 12:00pm every day the cannon on signal hill is fired, it is accurate to the nearest millisecond. The tradition dates back to the beginning of the 19th century when it was used to signal the ships anchored in Table Bay.

Cape Town’s most famous attraction is no doubt Table Mountain, the lower cable station from which you’ll get a cable car to the top is situated only 6km from De Waterkant, although a taxi is recommended as it’s an uphill climb that even the saltiest locals wouldn’t attempt.

Cape Town apartment rentals in De Waterkant are not surprisingly rare, those that have bought property here are usually so enamoured with the area they would rather live there themselves than rent it out. It’s well worth the time trying to find Cape Town rental apartment in De Waterkant.
