De Waterkant is a modernised extension of the Bo Kaap which it sits aside; the houses all have the same charming architecture and colourful paintwork to those of its neighbouring suburb. In the past couple of decades the area has been taken over by the young and trendy of Cape Town and visiting one of these houses is like stepping into an interior design showroom. That said the cobbled tree lined streets and colourful exteriors make the area a unique place to stay when visiting Cape Town.

Cape Town’s most famous attraction is no doubt Table Mountain, the lower cable station from which you’ll get a cable car to the top is situated only 6km from De Waterkant, although a taxi is recommended as it’s an uphill climb that even the saltiest locals wouldn’t attempt.
