By the year 2015 the market for audio visual products and services is expected to grow into a $115 billion industry. InfoComm International recently commissioned a study about the AV products & services industry and this is thevery exciting news arose from the study commissioned. “The 2012 Global AV Market Definition and Strategy Study” by Acclaro Growth Partners is the only worldwide study focused on quantifying the commercial audiovisual industry.
The study found that the AV industry today generates about $78 billion a year and further industry growth is expected by the study’s authors of about 14 percent a year between 2012 and 2015. The fastest growing services are audio visual systems installation/integration and managed services.
The growth of streaming media, video conferencing, signal management, display panels and equipment and delivery equipment, and demand for audio visual services, grew to reach 11 percent growth between 2009 and 2012.
InfoComm defined the market under study as “the technologies, products and systems for visual display, audio reproduction, video and audio production, interfacing and signal distribution, lighting, control systems, interactive display and audio presentation systems, remote video and web or video conferencing, sometimes referred to as telepresence, and the furniture, cabling, connectors and racks to tie them into a system.”
The top global customers for audiovisual products and services are in the corporate, education and government markets. But the fast-growing healthcare industry is becoming one of the leading users and innovators for AV goods and services. All of these industries are focusing on audio visual systems, integration and technologies to fuel increasing requirements in communication and collaboration practices.
This study is important to the AV industry, as it lays out the numbers and growth projections for our professional, global AV industry. A crucial point of the study showed that substantial growth is coming from service and maintenance contracts for audiovisual systems. InfoComm noted that audio visual systems have become more complex and essential to daily operation in government work, educational institutions and corporations. Because of this, more maintenance and service is needed o the systems.
The AV communications industry, in which CCS is proud to be a leader, is growing in part because of the technological changes affecting society today.
