While many people have benefited from this astounding discovery made by the medical scientists, there are still a large number of people who are unaware about the whole process. This is the main reason why the whole concept of sperm donation is ridden with a number of myths which is due to the misconceptions harbored by the common masses about this process.
One of the major miracles of the modern ages, sperm donation is a process that allows a woman to have a child regardless of her relationship or status. Sperm banks are the major source for women and couples who are battling with fertility problems to help them in the conception of a child. While many people have benefited from this astounding discovery made by the medical scientists, there are still a large number of people who are unaware about the whole process. This is the main reason why the whole concept of sperm donation is ridden with a number of myths which is due to the misconceptions harbored by the common masses about this process.

One of the widely prevalent and most common myths regarding the sperm donation technology is that it is a new and unknown technology. It is however completely wrong as this form of conception technology is half a century old. In fact, the first two sperm banks were opened in Lowa City, Lowa and Tokyo, in Japan. Another common misconception about this technology is that only a few people ever use this method in order to have child. It is again a misconception that people must shed off as soon as possible as a recent data suggests that approximately one in eight infertile couples require the use of donor’s sperm to conceive. This, itself is indicative of the fact that it is a widely use method of conception which uses syringe to place semen into a woman’s vagina in order to assist her in getting pregnant.

The myth that has now been busted thanks to the statistical report generated from the American Medical experts is that few children are born using this process. With the data clearly suggesting that the number of donor inseminated births is somewhere between 4,000-5,000 births per year, the whole fallacy comes to an end.

People often have this conception that a man’s sperm will be the same each time it’s examined under the microscope but the medically proven truth is that a person’s sperm count varies according to his physical condition. You can always find people telling you that infertility is not a medical illness and treatment is not covered by insurance. This is again a false statement as infertility has long been awarded the status of a medical illness and the full cost of treatment is covered under the insurance policies.
