One of the great ways to brew coffee is by using a french press coffee maker, also called a french pot or coffee pot.
The french press coffee pot is widespread and much popular. In fact, it is used in many places over the world. It is known to brew strong, rich, full-flavored and great-tasting coffee, extracting the essential oils of the coffee beans.
Brewing french press coffee is simple. Water is heated in a kettle, and then the coffee ground is added to the french press pot. The water is poured in, the coffee stirred, steeping several minutes.
Then, the filter/plunger is pressed down, the ground getting to the bottom of the pot. The brewed coffee remains above the filter and is ready to pour and drink.
One drawback is that some ground usually remains in the cup and it's not completely strained, but french press coffee drinkers are used to it and it's non of an issue for them.
Another drawback of the coffee french press is that it does not keep the coffee hot long enough. Thus, if you want to drink another cup do so immediately, or the remaining coffee will not be usable.
The thermal pots, like the stainless steel french presses, solve this problem, as it keeps the coffee warm for longer. The stainless steel coffee pot would keep it warm for about two hours.
French press coffee makers are affordable and you can find some great ones for less than 20 bucks. The stainless steel pots, however, may be significantly more expensive.
There are some two-in-one french press coffee mug units. Those are both a french press and a coffee mug; you brew and drink from the same brewing pot/mug.
Some people like this for travel, but it may have serious flaws rendering the whole idea of it useless. Many people using french press/travel mugs complain that too much of the coffee ground manage to slip through the filter and get into your mouth when drinking the coffee.
Coffee pot travel mugs like this are usually designed to fit into the cup holder of the car.
To conclude, a french press coffee maker brews great-tasting delicious coffee. It is rich and full-flavored and is simple to use.
On the other hand, it cools quickly and is not ideal for brewing several cups to drink later. Thermal coffee presses solve this problem and keep the coffee hot longer.
Coffee press/mugs are an innovative idea but often not practical as a brewing pot due to the amount of coffee that get through the filter into the cup.
