Bodybuilders and people who have been working out have probably heard of this myths regarding weight loss and gaining muscle exercise programs. This is just too bad because lack of knowledge regarding the truth keeps you from achieving your goal.

Below are myths revealed and the truth unveiled.

"Working harder achieves greater results"

Although it is best to work out with great passion and determination, exercising with no definitive goals is like talking to the wall. You simply will just achieve minimal results or nothing at all.

Even if you work hard for 15-20 minutes only, if you are doing the right exercise for that certain muscle part then definitely you are on the right track.

The general rule is that cardio requires at least 30-45 minutes. It is sufficient to do weightlifting twice to thrice a week, and cardio for at least five times on a weekly basis. Other than this, you are just on the brink of exhaustion achieving nothing but getting sore.

Also, there is no such thing as lower abs. In achieving a six pack abs, you must lower your fat levels to a desirable level. Get rid of abdominal fat first before doing some crunches, this way you do not have to exercise too much.

"If I did not feel any pain the next day, I did not do enough exercise"

False. Usually, if a person feels sore it means that he or she either strained a muscle or pushed their exercise routine too far. One must always warm up to prepare the body for the bodybuilding exercise ahead. Stretching it good for warm-ups as this avoids muscle tears.

When you always feel sore, it only means you are overworking your body or you are doing something wrong. If this is always the case then you are not allowing any chance for some muscle cells to grow. In fact, you are just doing the opposite.

It is important to keep yourself busy and active. This will help you achieve not only a good body but a healthy lifestyle as well. Do away with the belief that if you do not have time for exercising, you might as well not do anything.

Exercise does not have to be torture. It could be fun if you just have a well planned regimen. Try to relax, do not drive yourself too hard, and enjoy. Good results always require patience and determination. In time, you will get there.

"Eating more protein means bigger muscles"

Not true. Increasing your body mass and muscle gain are determined by two factors: more calorie intake than the ones you consume and challenging muscles by weightlifting. Three nutrients are important in building muscles and these are fat, carbohydrate and protein.

Too much protein consumption is not good for the health. This creates a lot of health problems like dehydration, nutrient imbalance and kidney strain. The truth is, too much protein will just be stored within your cells which might even add to your overall weight.

A determined attitude, healthy nutrition plan and simultaneous cardio and weight training will help you achieve not only a well-sculpted body fit for competition but a more active, healthier lifestyle. GP
