If you are a fan of Blackberry, you must have been a fan of the 9800. After all, it was the most unique handset RIM had to offer back in 2010. Now, the Canadian phone manufacturer has released two more versions of this popular smartphone. These are the Torch 9860 and 9810.
The 9810 looks exactly like its predecessor. It shares the same dimensions and design. It sports the same 3.2 inch display. However, this new version offers a resolution of 480 x 640 pixels compared to 360 x 480 pixels offered by the previous version. Both displays may look the same. However, today's version will allow you to enjoy more from watching HD videos. This was not possible in the past.
The same slide out QWERTY keyboard is also onboard. This slider will allow you to respond quickly to emails. It will also allow you to chat on the BBM just like you would on your computer. This keyboard is what the Canada-based firm is known for. You will also find QWERTY keyboards on other phones from Blackberry's roster.
You may think that RIM's designers lack in creativity, since most of their phones share similar designs. However, with the Blackberry Torch 9860, RIM dares to be different. Unlike its predecessor, it does not share the same design. It sports a 3.7 inch touch screen with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Furthermore, the phone does not come with a slide out keyboard. It offers a touch interface. The only other input method is an optical track pad.
The built in cameras on the two new phones are also 5 megapixel cameras just like the 9800. However, these cameras have capabilities not found on their predecessor. These new 5 megapixel camera will allow you to record videos in 720p or high-definition.
The Blackberry Torch 9860 and its QWERTY counterpart also offer more performance. They both come packed with 1.2 GHz single-core processors under the hood. The 9800 only sports a 624 MHz single-core processor. This will allow you to multi-task and run games more efficiently.
Aside from processing power, the two new versions come pre-installed with the BB OS 7.0. This is the latest iteration of Blackberry's mobile operating system. It comes with social media network integration and Liquid Graphics to name a few.
Since the original version has been around since August of 2010, it's about time RIM released a refresh. Not only did we get the 9810. We also get the Blackberry Torch 9860. These are the two new upgrades of the popular 9800.
