RIM finally released its first full touch screen smartphone and this is the BlackBerry Torch 9860. So after taking the huge step and finally breaking through the barriers, is this handset enough to make the break out of the BlackBerry niche?

For all BlackBerry users, I know that you feel the same way about this full touch handset. It may not conform to the traditional BlackBerry handset design, but you will definitely fall in love with this handset.

This handset sports a quite large screen, with its 3.7" and 800 x 480 displays; you will immediately notice RIM's effort in giving you the best full touch screen that is capable of competing with other famous all touch smartphones. It also deviated from the normal boxy and corporate like design of other BlackBerry handsets. This phone embraces the curved styles of other famous handsets out there. With its serious curves, you will be able to hold it or grip it properly. It comes with just 5 buttons that sits below the screen. Its camera, volume, and 3.5mm jack port sits on the right side of the phone. You can easily unlock this handset using its unlock button that sits on top of the unit. You can easily charge it using its micro-USB slot on the left side of the unit. The handset comes with a 5MP camera at its back and a front facing camera on top of the unit's LCD screen. The design is quite simple and everything is placed strategically.

This handset is being powered by a 1.2 GHz single-core processor. This is also the same processor that powers other top of the line BlackBerry handsets. When it comes to Operating System, this handset uses BlackBerry OS 7. It also comes with 768 MB Ram, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS, 2.5 GB worth of storage, long battery life, etc.

Over all, this handset is easy to use, powerful, elegantly designed, and full of amazing features as well. It also comes with Facebook, BlackBerry Messenger, Twitter, and other apps that I am sure you will love. But if it is not enough for you, you can always add more via the BlackBerry Apps World.

Now that you know a couple of things about this handset, I am sure that you will agree with me when I say that this handset was able to break from the so called BlackBerry Niche. It is also something that can compete with other famous all touch smartphones that are out in the market today.
