It sounds like there are those who are into it and those that are not all that impressed. This is Microsoft after all. If we can't expect something amazing from this stupendously large company, then who? Bing.com starts out lovely with a pretty image on the first page. I am curious if this picture varies from time to time, since I'm still a novice user. It is way fancy compared to other search engines. It will probably be distracting unlike the simpler Ask.com, Google, or even Blackle with its high contrast. The attractive photograph and smooth design might pull people into using it just for that. Have to wait and see. Once you have entered a search topic, you are given a list of related websites, just as on every other search engine, however in contradiction to their opening page, this page, at least to me seems rather bare. There is a huge white margin on the left side of the page, and I am really not sure why this is so empty, however by doing this they are allowing less room on page one of their searches, and from an ranking perspective, this is probably not a good thing. All the way on the right is the mini preview area. After a search you have a list of related items. If you want to see a bit more info just let the cursor roll over the list and they pop up. If you don't want to see any of it then you don't go near and it stays tucked away. It makes it easy to decide wether or not to investigate any further. At this point Bing seems to be more popular than Live Search which came before. It is so bright and attractive and gives a feeling of newness. But there's no way to tell how it will do against the other search engines. It is too similar to the others to really take their places. People won't switch to get the same thing.
