At this year’s Consumer Electronics show, smart screen displays took a big step forward with the introduction of Panasonic’s new interactive, personalized Life+ Screen TV experience. The new audio-visual systems solution will debut this spring in 4K Ultra HD and 1080p models to retailers and resellers like CCS Presentation Systems.
Life+ Screen’s ‘Beyond Smart’ features also include Panasonic Life+ Screen AX800 4K Series, which also encompasses Panasonic’s stunning 4K picture quality. Plus, its experience in plasma HDTV development gives users incredibly wide color range and superbly high contrast levels.
According to the company, Panasonic’s Life+ Screens work over time to learn the preferences of each viewer (or the family as a whole). The audio-visual system uses that knowledge to get the viewer’s favorite content together and waiting when the system gets next switched on. A personalized profile of a viewer’s favorite content gets made thanks to the remote control’s ‘My Button’ (available on certain models). It’s the latest innovation in content recommendation engines.
The new TVs will also have a voice-activated search assistant. Simply, searching for content by telling the TV what you want. The Life+Screen Voice Assistant functionality creates an effective simple method to search via voice. Users can also swap links and bookmarks between devices.
The Verge wrote:
“What’s really cool is that “my Stream” gathers metadata from everywhere you consume content, including your television, computer, smartphone, and tablet, and can suggest content from outlets like YouTube or Netflix directly within the home screen while also supporting those separate apps.
What you save on Life+Screen will be bookmarked at the same time to your connected smartphone or online video application through Panasonic’s cloud service, My Home Cloud.
In another example of the desire for ‘bigger is better’ in digital signage there is another new offering.
Christie Digital works closely with CCS Presentation Systems to deliver large-scale LCD displays for target markets. Christie recently announced two new thin-bezel 65-inch flat panel digital display solutions. New to its product lineup are the LED edge-lit Christie FHD651-T and Christie FHD651-P. These exceptional image solutions are available in both touch and non-touch versions. The touch version (Christie FHD651-T) has high-accuracy infrared touch technology with superior touchscreen performance, allowing for up to four simultaneous touches.
Both flat panel versions offer brilliant displays, showing up to 1.07 billion colors and 4000:1 contrast ratio for true-to-life images. Plus, they have built-in speakers, are mountable in portrait or landscape mode, and can easily connect any source and support RS232 commands. This makes for ease of automation and control.
Both flat panels seamlessly combine with the Christie Brio multi-site presentation and collaboration solution. With long-lasting LED backlighting, the new flat panels are energy efficient and consume minimal power for maximum sustainability and a reduced environmental footprint. The new Christie FHD651-T and Christie FHD651-P will ship in March, and include a three-year parts and labor warranty.
