Huge threat is posed to the joints of the individuals when arthritis attacks them. It is a common disease that is supposed to affect the body when an individual turns forty or onwards. Seeing the frequency of the emergence of this disease, total hip replacement surgery has been introduced to help the surgeons cast aside such negative health effects and make life easier for their patients. Earlier, the success rate of this operation was not significant, but with the technological developments, several tools have come into existence to conduct the operation and it successful. Thus, most of the arthritics opt for the total hip replacement operation to get well soon.
The arthritic pain is really tough to bear and hence the patients are compelled to do something to get rid of it. With total hip replacement surgery, the patients get a chance to remove the adverse effects of the arthritic pains. It is well if the patients decide to opt for the surgery in case of arthritis, but in other painful conditions, such as hip injury or else, the people must attend the rehabilitation sessions especially held for them. It has been found that these sessions are quite beneficial for the patients and help them get rid of their hip joint pains. If such is the case, there is no need to go for total hip replacement operation.
During the total hip replacement surgery, the original hip joint of the patients is replaced with a prosthesis that is actually an artificial joint prepared for the affected person. Earlier only an average sized prosthesis was prepared for the patients of all kinds. However, in recent times, it has been found that the patients feel uncomfortable in carrying out their daily tasks. This has led to the emergence of the concept of gender specific hip that is designed for the patients so that the prosthesis fit them well in all respect. Mostly, the females, after their total hip replacement surgery opt for gender specific hip joints for well adjustment and comfort.
The operation is a major one and hence the recovery time that is taken is quite a lot. Before the total hip replacement surgery and after it, the surgeons prescribe some of the exercise and physical activities to be performed by the patients. The main aim behind this is to make their body flexible enough for easy adjustment of the artificial prosthesis to be inserted after the operation. Doing these exercises according to the schedule after the total hip replacement surgery, will ensure the patient, a faster recovery within significantly less consumption of time. Thus, the arthritics must take seriously perform the prescribed physical activities regularly for instant recovery.
The total hip replacement surgery, however, offers two kinds of approach based on whatever is suitable for the patients. One is the posterior approach, where the hip is replaced from front and another is the anterior hip replacement, in case of which the surgeons opt to replace the joint from the back. The surgeons know the requirements and hence they accordingly decide which approach would be suitable for a particular patient and then accordingly conduct the operation.
