There are 11 beaches in Calpe out of which three beaches have got recognition as blue flag beaches.

There are 11 beaches in Calpe out of which three beaches have got recognition as blue flag beaches.

Blue flag Beaches

Levante (La Fossa) – This beach is located opposite to the Rock of Ifach and the quality of sand on this beach is extremely good. You will get very good views of the Rock. The promenade is quite attractive and there are number of restaurants. The promenade has been well designed with ramps and good access points and is ideal for handicapped persons. This beach has white sand and moderate waves. The beach length is 930 M and width 33 M.

El Arenal – You can get the best views of Rock Ifack from this beach. You can see the ruins of ancient Roman baths in the archaeological site. Ramps have been provided on the promenade to facilitate disabled persons to reach the sand. This beach has white sand which is of excellent quality and calm waters. The beach length is 620 M and width 60 M.

Cantal Roig – This cove is located between Calpe fish market and the fishing port and is in two parts. You can get the best view of Ifach Rock which is very popular among climbers. This beach has white sand and calm waters. The beach length is 400 M and width 25 M.

Others

Les Bassetes – This cove is bay shaped and you can get very good views of the Rock Ifach from here. There are many cliff houses around and you find typical Mediterranean vegetation – palms, pines, etc. This beach is situated in the north of the Calpe region and provides natural shelter. The conditions here are perfect for learning sailing. Further there is a perfect underwater sea bed suitable for diving. This beach has gravel sand and calm waters. The beach length is 320 M and width 7 M.

El Racó (Raconada del Port) – This is a small beach with white stones and you can get beautiful views. You can practice number of sports next to Calpe marina where there is a sports meeting point. You could climb the Rock of Ifach or practice scuba diving, fishing, sailing, etc. From this point you can go for the Prince of Asturias Ecological Walk that is running along the Rock’s foot. The promenade here is ideal for handicapped persons because of easy access. This beach has gravel sand and calm waters. The beach length is 150 M and width 20 M.

El Boll – This beach is situated next to Arenal Beach and a long well constructed promenade connects these two beaches. The beach and promenade are easily accessible. From this beach you can view Rock Ifach’s western side. You will also be able to see large number of houses that form hillside terraces. You can see the remains of Roman baths in the archaeological site. This beach has golden sand and calm waters. The beach length is 1000 M and width 60 M.

In addition to the above, there are other beaches in Calpe –Calalga (Cala Levante), Cala Morro de Toix, Cala Les Urques, Cala Gasparet and Cala del Penyal.
