While facing an interview with a top management consultancy firm, you should be aware of the type of questions which are asked during a case interview. There are many rounds (often three or four) of case interviews when you face a consulting interview and you have to prove your abilities by giving appropriate answers to the questions.

If you will ask a management consultant, how to ace that interview, you will surely get vital tips to crack them. The most important suggestion they give is to study the case thoroughly. You do not only need to take guidance of an (interview) consultant, as there are many websites which provide study material and necessary information which helps a lot with case interviews. You can search consulting forums and other recruiting hubs. The most effective tip is to practice as many case interviews as possible with actual case consultants. You could have a look at Evisors to find a partner to practice cases with. Also, practice as much as you can with friends or if your friends are not interested, than you may practice in front of a mirror.

When you have the interview, apart from asking the basic questions make some specific enquiries like how many people will take the case interview or how many people the company is planning to hire. Try to gather knowledge about the company and the interviewer so that you can build a good rapport with the interviewer. Each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. Make your strength your USP (unique selling proposition) and try to incorporate it in your answers. Your USP will give you an edge over your competitors. Be courteous and mindful of your behavior towards the staff. The ultimate tip is to remain calm and confident. Don’t give impulsive answers. Be thoughtful of your body language while giving a consulting case interview. Remain unnerved, even if the question asked to your seem bizarre. More than your answer, what matters to the interviewer is how you answer the question. You thought process and analytical skills are judged in such interviews. So give a thoroughly analyzed answer to the questions asked.

With all these points in mind, facing and cracking a case interview wont remain a hard nut to crack.
