Vitamins can make our bodies work properly.
Vitamins can make our bodies work properly. They are essential organic nutrients required in very small amounts for normal metabolism, growth and physical well-being. We can get the vitamins from what we eat each day. But there are still some different in the amount those foods contain.

You can consider your body as one powerful machine. It is capable of doing all sorts of things itself. But one thing it can’t do is make vitamins. One can only intake the vitamins from foods. Your body is able to get the vitamins it needs from the foods you eat because different foods contain different vitamins. The key is to eat different foods to get an assortment of vitamins. Though some kids take a daily vitamin, most kids don't need one if they're eating a variety of healthy foods.

No single food contains all of the vitamins, and that’s why nutritionist always keep advising to eat different kind of food to ensure our body will have a balanced and varied diet for adequate intake. Each vitamin has specific functions to our bodies, and they are unique and irreplaceable.

Of those 13 vitamins known today fall into two categories-fat soluble, and water soluble.

When you eat foods contain fat-soluble vitamins, which contains vitamins A, D, E and K, the vitamins will store in the fat tissues in your body and in your liver. They will store in your body fat and wait around until your body needs them.

The fat-soluble vitamins are happy to stay stored in your body for a while-some may stay for a few days, some even for up to 6 months! If your body needs them, special carriers in your body will take them to where they are needed.

Water-soluble vitamins are different. Water-soluble vitamins contain vitamins C and the B-complex vitamins- B1 (thiamin), B2 (riboflavin), niacin, B6 (pyridoxine), folic acid, B12 (cobalamine), biotin, and pantothenic acid.. When you eat foods that have water-soluble vitamins, these vitamins cannot be stored as much in your body. Instead, they travel through your bloodstream.

So these kinds of vitamins need to be replaced often because they don’t stick around!

The best way of getting all the vitamins is to eat variety of foods, and don’t skip meals. It will allow you to achieve the balance of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, and calories. Whole or unprocessed foods — like fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, lean meats, fish, and poultry — are the best choices for providing the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy and grow properly.

But if your skip meal, going on diet, or if you are concerned that you are not eating enough items from a particular category, such as vegetables or dairy products, then talk to your doctor or to a registered dietitian. These professionals can help you create an eating plan that includes the nutrients your body needs.

To choose healthy foods, check food labels and pick items that are high in vitamins and minerals. For example, if you're choosing beverages, you'll find that a glass of milk is a good source of vitamin D and the minerals calcium, phosphorous, and potassium. A glass of soda, on the other hand, offers very few vitamins or minerals — if any.

You can also satisfy your taste buds without sacrificing nutrition while eating out the vegetable pizzas or fajitas, sandwiches with lean cuts of meat, fresh salads, and baked potatoes are just a few delicious, nutritious choices.

If you're a vegetarian, you'll need to plan carefully for a diet that offers the vitamins and minerals found primarily in meats. The best sources for the minerals zinc and iron are meats, fish, and poultry. However, you can get zinc and iron in dried beans, seeds, nuts, and leafy green vegetables like kale.

OK. It will never be a waste of time to take care of our body better. On the contrary, caring for our body and make it in a good condition will allow us to achieve what we want with our dreams and goals. Next we will discuss the 13 vitamins we need.
