Article contains information over Abu Dhabi and his opportunities possibilities. Government of Abu Dhabi has been focusing a lot on Emiratisation i.e. making efforts particularly for the progress of the natives of the Emirates. These efforts have been extended to the banking sector as well it being one of the most important sectors for an economy in its booming phase. Any One can try own luck.
Abu Dhabi, the cosmopolitan metropolis in UAE, is the industrial and commercial center of the emirate. Not only is it the capital of the United Arab Emirates but is also the second largest city in the region. The emirate has witnessed urbanization and development galore in recent years generating thousands of jobs in Abu Dhabi. Serving as the seat of government, it is the center of political and cultural activities.

The city of Abu Dhabi holds important positions among various lists like those of world’s most preferred career destinations, most expensive cities and the richest cities. The largest producer of oil in the world, it houses major financial institutions such as Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange, Central Bank of United of the UAE and headquarters of many other companies. The government in the attempt to diversify its oil dependent economy has been making investments in its financial services sector. Consequently, the number of banking jobs in Abu Dhabi has been growing since last decade. The demand for banking professionals at all levels is propelled by the expansion of the finance industry. And so, plethora of well qualified and experienced personnel is required to meet the constantly increasing demand.

The government has been focusing a lot on Emiratisation i.e. making efforts particularly for the progress of the natives of the Emirates. These efforts have been extended to the banking sector as well it being one of the most important sectors for an economy in its booming phase. The nationals are being taught, trained and provided more and more hiring opportunities so that the number of natives in banking sector can be escalated. It covers all aspects of the banking world including senior, junior and entry level jobs along with administration, human resources and legal openings. Many leading banks are also participating in the government’s initiative by offering various programs and posts to the students. Since, there are plenty of banking jobs in Abu Dhabi and bankers do not want to compromise on manpower quality, they have been hiring expats. The mission is to equip the nationals i.e. the Emiratis with required skills and employ them across various levels in all the sectors instead of the foreigners.

Derasatee or Dirasati meaning ‘my education’ in Arabic has been created to support the mandate of increasing UAE nationals across all banks in co-operation with Emirates Institute for Financial and Banking Studies (EIFBS). This would mean a reservoir of employment opportunities thrown open for natives who are willing to learn and acquire jobs. The starting salary of 12,000 dirham is to be offered to students joining the banking sector post graduation. This good news has flourished a wave of enthusiasm among students interested in pursuing a career in banking as they would now be preferred over expats. On one hand, the job options for professionals from outside the region are expected to get limited but on the other, the movement between the emirates of UAE is sure to improve considerably. Apparently, expatriates would face tougher competition for jobs in Abu Dhabi especially in the finance sector. The economy of UAE has long been dependent on outside help but it now aims at working more seriously in the bid to become self sufficient.

The only focus of Government has been to encourage Emiratis to participate in the economic development and this is why it has never allowed possession of lands by expats. And though it appreciates them for their help in form of services, jobs in UAE are always either short term or contractual. It has been constantly engaged in making room for natives across various sectors and the objective of diversification may be another step towards it.
