The in-class learning experience for some Baltimore area school students has been enhanced with a campus-wide educational audio visual equipment installation thanks to the CCS Presentation Systems Mid-Atlantic partner SMART Technologies.
The CCS Presentation Systems’ Mid-Atlantic office worked closely with SMART Technologies to outfit Our Lady of Grace School in Parkton, MD with a SMART Board, Epson projector, AMK Speaker system and SMART student response system. These new technologies are being outfitted in each and every one of the school’s 11 classrooms. The school also received two SMART tables to be shared among multiple classrooms.
The technology upgrade helps Our Lady of Grace teachers to meet Archdiocese of Baltimore’s STEM program goals by teaching 21st century skills through the integration and utilization of technology as a teaching and learning tool. The school’s new STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) initiative is designed to upgrade learning opportunities to increase student achievement and inspire careers in one of the four STEM areas of learning.
Growing use of technology in the classroom continues to help lead and guide new programs and initiatives. As educational pursuits are more centered around the 4 STEM areas, technology use in schools is essential for preparing students for college and career. Schools are teaching students to become critical thinkers and preparing them to be leaders in a global and technologically-driven society. Incorporating technology in the classroom is the new norm and companies like CCS that offer audio-visual systems integration for schools, businesses, government organizations and more are fulfilling this need.
Our Lady of Grace is one of seven Baltimore-area schools selected by the Archdiocese’s Department of Catholic Schools to become a STEM-focused school and to participate in new STEM program initiatives.
A/V solutions for education like those installed by CCS Mid-Atlantic at Our Lady of Grace are examples of how classroom technology is being utilized for teaching and learning. The school’s SMART software allows teachers to create interactive lessons, take in direct feedback through SMART student response systems and evaluate student retention and lesson comprehension. These tools can also identify areas where teachers may need to focus more with students and allows for data-driven decision making that creates a more productive classroom.
SMART Technologies is a global leader in interactive whiteboards and focuses their efforts on providing collaboration solutions to change the way the world works and learns. In addition to the seven Baltimore area schools, SMART products are used in over two million other classrooms worldwide, reaching over 40 million students and teachers.
