The introduction of the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) industry in India, has led to a major evolution in the Indian economy. With the fast growing trend of outsourcing/assigning services and business to external utility provider has led to a tremendous transformation in the business market, accelerating a more organized and systematic method of handling large-scale professional ventures.
The BPO Jobs have instilled a refreshed way of increasing monetary yields and revenues. Growing number of organizations are realizing that effective focus on core processes working in the company is more important than paying attention to non-core businesses prevalent internally. Such processes are thus outsourced to external service providers. Apart from better management, such a set up saves immense amount of money and time.

Some of the key factors that have boosted the BPO and KPO sector in India are as follows:
- More profit to the buyers of off shoring services at the high end ascribing to the value chain, in relation to the lower end. The present lower cost locations thus become a judicious choice for industries/firms for off shoring the higher-end processes.
- Growing scarcity of well-trained and specialized working professionals in the developed nations. Countries such as the UK, the US, etc., have consistently recorded a shortage of skilled workforce and specialized experts in knowledge-intensive sectors. To meet such demands therefore, talent is sourced from developing nations which are characterized by productive outcomes for low-wage services. Developing countries like India have thus become the supreme outsourcing locations for eminent global firms.
- Gradual maturity of the current low-end centers to the high-end of the value chain by the evolutions in the processes which ultimately leads to substantial growth of the firms in the value chain. The current transforming global scenario has brought forth significant developments across the world. India is increasingly being viewed as the ultimate outsourcing vertex promising significant services at competitive wages. Beginning in the early 1990’s, the BPO and KPO sector in India has seen a consistent upward trend at a break-neck speed.
According to surveys by the National Association of Software Services and Companies (NASSCOM), other favorable factors that have brought forth BPO and KPO trends in the country are strong orientation skills, flexibility with round-the-clock working shifts, pleasant policy scenario which supports large-scale investments and suitable tax schemes.
Some of the major BPO brands established in India are WNS Group, Daksh E-Services, Zenta, EXL, HCL Technologies, Wipro Spectramind, Mphasis, Convergys, etc.
The Indian KPO sector accounts for 70% of the global business of the KPO Industry. This translates to a whopping 12 billion US $. As per studies revealed by the NASSCOM, The KPO sector is expected to grow leaps and bounds to 15.5 US $ by the end of 2010.
India thus has emerged from being a passive economy to an active participant in the global advancing economic scenario. Since past few years, the country has witnessed immense economic and social advancements, accelerated by the forces of Information Technology and Globalization. India has therefore picked up the up surging economic trend. A consistently progressing economy, India is globally renowned for high class services by efficient and talented workforce.
