Let the system take care
This is one of the many means that you can make part of your ecommerce business and keep in touch with people who come into and go out of your ecommerce website. All that you need to do is feed information about these events and anniversaries into your ecommerce website, and it will take care of the mailing without your having to interfere with it. One feed, and the ecommerce application will take care of such needs.
Begin at the beginning
Common sense dictates that you start building a relationship with your customer from the time she set foot (not literally, of course!) into your e-business. After the purchase is over, you could start communicating with her the next day. You could send an automated Thank You mail. This is a powerful introductory note. It can make the customer feel good for having done nothing other than just pick an item of her choice. The introductory Thank You mail could also consist of small, but important bits of information about your business –about from when it has been serving customers, and what this customer can expect from here. It could say something like how pleased it is to have a customer like her, all of which can be done in a sincere tone without being artificial.
A host of occasions
When keeping in touch with customers through automated emails, try to space the messages prudently. If your ecommerce business starts giving out messages every few days, it is sure to be construed as prying. If on the other hand, it becomes too infrequent, it is likely that it would be ineffective. One simple method would be keep some chosen occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries. Another important way of communicating would be to have automated emails sent out whenever a product of the particular customer’s choice arrives. This is a way of endearing the business to the customer. It gives her the feeling that the business understands her needs.
