Attractive Events In Rio de Janeiro In January 2011 PART 2

The article continues to offer you the highlights of January 2011 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
In the first part of our article we reviewed important events like the Rio Fashion Week or the Salao Bike Show. With the second part we will continue to present some of the most important events that will be organized in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in January 2011 to show you that the city truly lives up to its name, offering a bundle of possibilities to have fun and to relax.

We will kick things off with an event called Saint Sebastian Race, organized once per year. In 2011 the event is scheduled for the 20th of the month at 9 AM. The Saint Sebastian Race, or how the locals are calling it – corrida de Sao Sebastiao, is a traditional 10 km race that every year celebrates Rio’s patron saint. The first five men and women that will cross the finish line of the race will get prizes and trophies. The race will start at Aterro do Flamengo, between Cuatemoque square and Tucuma road.

Another important event is Oi Noites Cariocas which translated in English means “Oi Rio Nights”. It is an annual event and it is an eagerly awaited season of rock and pop concerts. If you plan on visiting Rio de Janeiro in this period, you will be able to catch famous Brazilian artists at Pier Maua during the city’s balmy summer nights, plus other exciting musicals and interesting events. We continue to present you the most exciting events with Tom Jobim Day - By Law nr. 4.543 published on July 10, on the birth date of Maestro Antonio Carlos Brasileiro de Almeida Jobim, the Tom Jobim’s Day is celebrated in honor of Bossa Nova and all its participants, encouragers and disseminators. The event will be organized on January 25th, 2010.

Nativity Statues at Julieta De Serpa Arts and Culture House will most likely gather an incredible number of well over 3000 parts which will be distributed along 50 square meters. The Holy Family is depicted on a typical Naples ambiance, among a vegetable, fish and fruit market, homes in celebration and gypsies. Some of the parts can move and most are originated from France and Italy, of the 17th and 19th centuries. The main characters were made in terracotta. Another interesting mock-up with 450 parts is the Snow City which symbolizes a village on the snow covered mountains. There is also a musical number performed from Tuesdays to Fridays, at 04:00 PM.
