Spain is a large country, which is divided into regions. Tourists intending to visit Spain should plan out the major places on their trip and do some research to help them decide the best places to go.
Galicia is one of the regions in Spain, commonly known by the locals as “the land of 1000 rivers” because of the many rivers crossing the region. The rivers come down from the mountains to the coastal area of the region and are quite impressive. This characteristic makes Galicia’s weather very rainy during the winter but not too hot during the summer months.
Galicia has beautiful, smooth beaches and magnificent towns and villages, which do lots of fishing. There are also cliffs that are very dangerous; the area on which they lie is called the coast of death because of the nature of the cliffs. These are, however, very attractive natural sights and worth a visit.
Major tourist attractions in Galicia
One of the most attractive places in Galicia is its capital, which is a very beautiful city. In fact, it tops the list of the most spectacular cities in Spain. This city is also the Pilgrimage’s final destination making it quite valued and special to many people.
The old quarter, the synagogue, and the Romanesque churches are other major attractions situated in the city of A Coruna, which sits on a peninsula. The buildings have a fragile and massive strong palace contrast that is very interesting.
Lugo is another tourist attraction in Galicia because it is home to a magnificent Romanesque cathedral. The area has preserved Roman walls surrounding it, which have significant historical value. Vigo, the city with the highest population in Galicia, has a port that is very important in history. The city is preserved well and is quite charming.
Landscape lovers should take some time to visit Spain’s most beautiful province, Pontevedra. The city also has a number of famous monuments that are very attractive and worth the visit. Ourense is an inland city that is also interesting. Here you will have a glimpse of a Romanesque Cathedral, which is very beautiful
A number of people visiting Spain limit themselves to some places and neglect some; but it is very advisable to explore more new grounds for more fun and adventure. Engaging in the local sports and festivals is also a good way to fully enjoy your vacation.
