Asphalt Plants are designed mainly for the purpose of mixing asphalt, aggregates and other building components in required proportion at a raised temperature to produce a homogeneous mixture of hot mix paving mixture. And this asphalt mixture is used for constructing roads.
Asphalt Plants are mainly categorized into two types:
1. Asphalt Batch mix Plants : In Asphalt Batch Mix Plant all the aggregates are heated in rotating drum and than hated material are transferred in hot bins where they are weighed and screened I and blending of aggregates is done in a binder in another separate pug-mill type admixture and in this way one batch of road building materials are prepared.
2. Asphalt Drum Mixing Plants: In this all the processes including heating, blending, drying of aggregates done in a same drum. These types of Asphalt plants are more popular because they are easy to handle and operate and generates higher production rate.
Various components of Asphalt drum mixing plants are Slinger Conveyor, Multiple Cold Aggregate Feeder Bins ,Rotary Drum,Single Deck Scalping Screen,,Burner, Load out Conveyor, Asphalt Tank, Mineral Filler Unit, Wet Scrubber, Fuel Service Tank, and Control Panel with Insulated Control Cabin.
How does Asphalt Drum Mixing Plants works:
In this machinery multiple feeder bins are used for storing different aggregates and each bin is fitted with gates that can be operated manually and there is a belt conveyor which is driven by variable speed motor that determines proportion of aggregates that is delivered from each bin. Materials from all the bins is than collected at gathering belt that is than transferred to single deck scalping material. And than this screened materials are transferred to rotary drum. High pressure jet oil burner fitted to heat the materials in different heating zones. All the operations is controlled by a control panel in a Control room.
