As you know many like to purchase vehicles newer rather than older or used. So why is this? Many assume that if the van has a few miles on it or it has been used in the past that it no longer is worth the monies. This isn’t necessarily the case for many. If you notice a few used vans sitting on the lot just don’t look past them. Take a look and see exactly how long these vans were used before the dealers put them on their lot.

Used vans are sometimes a great way to see if a van is right for you. They are also a wonderful purchase if you are looking for something as a family vehicle just for the weekend rather than an every day use. Used vans which sit on the lot are sometimes just ones which were leased rather than purchased and traded in for a newer make or model. If you as the dealership for a copy of the history for the vehicle they will be glad to assist you.
Many used vans are nothing more than ones which may have been used as travel services for rent-a-car or other businesses as such. They might not have as many miles as you thought used vans would have which may make a difference in your thoughts. Consider this; if the van was useless and was a hazard to the road, do you think that the dealership would place it on their lot for sale which then would give them a bad name?
When shopping for used vans make sure to look at the general condition of the vehicle from the outside. Is there major damage or rust to the body? If this is a work van which is being resold make sure to take into consideration that it was used for work so if there are a few dents it is probably due to tools which banged up against it. After you’ve looked at the appearance of the used vans look at the mileage. High mileage doesn’t necessarily mean that the van was used for hard labor. It may mean it was used as a travel service vehicle yet the steering and such is still in great condition. If this is a work vehicle and there is less mileage you will have to consider if this vehicle was used for towing other vehicles which them put more pressure on the engine giving it less life span or was it just not used as much.
Always make sure you purchase a vehicle on your emotions and how that vehicle makes you feel whether it is new or used. Used vans are out there for others if it is not the right idea for you. If a newer vehicle is what you are shopping for then make sure you let the dealer know this before they show you around to used vans as well. It is just a part of their job to service the customer with all the knowledge and information they have on their lot for sale.
