Corruption of MS Outlook PST file is quite a common phenomenon. However, you can save your important email messages by archiving them at a safer location with/without saving them in a PST file. Still, when corruption strikes, use Outlook PST repair tool to repair your important PST data.
Is the limited size of your email account letting you purge your important emails and attachments from your Inbox? Organizations depend a lot on email communication; be it correspondence with customers, clients to strategic communication with co-workers, vendors, suppliers, brokers and other important emails that act as business critical application. IT departments are responsible for safekeeping of this email data and therefore, they respond quickly to any corruption issue that arises due to large email data size. Therefore, we still fight with an old-age problem of effective storage of important email while sustaining access to other email data respectively.
The only answer that we get by seasoned Outlook users is creating Personal Storage File (PST) and complex archive system. Users often utilize PST file to store Calendar items, emails, journal entries and Tasks on employee workstations. Users themselves are responsible for archiving their important data properly. Archiving properly requires specification of archive periods; file location, folder and sub-folder location etc. PST file format is used with MS Exchange client, Windows messaging as well as MS Outlook versions 97/98/2000/2002. When opposed for supporting only ANSI text encoding, MS Outlook 2003 introduced a new feature of supporting Unicode data. This was when MS Outlook was reported encountering issues, while the user tries opening PST files with newer editions.
The latest version of MS Outlook i.e. MS Outlook 2007like its previous version MS Outlook 2003 is not compatible with Outlook versions of 2002 and earlier. However, both these 2003 and 2007 versions are able to open PST files created using any versions of MS Outlook. PST files are themselves known for being prone to corruption. The storage format of PST file is so proven for getting corrupt that the online marketplace is flooded with Outlook PST repair tools. These Outlook PST Repair tools are devised specifically to deal with PST corruption and bring these file back to working condition with all data intact.
One more drawback of PST file format is- size. MS Outlook 2000’s PST file was limited to 1.933GB which was again a threshold size crossing which resulted in corruption of MS Outlook file. Again in MS Outlook version 2003, MS Outlook increased the size limitation to 30 GB, but the larger the file went, the slower the performance was recorded. Moreover, PST files failed irrecoverably that means, larger the PST file size, more is the data loss of email messages, attachments, reports, etc.
However, there is an effective alternative for archiving Outlook emails using only PST files. Additionally, to archive Outlook PST data not in PST file, all you can do is save the important email messages with proper names and access information within your hard-drive. This method can be helpful as it might require size of your hard-disk which can be changed easily. Still if your MS Outlook PST file gets corrupt, repair it using an advanced and professional Outlook PST repair tool devised to repair PST files created by any of the MS Outlook version.
