On Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco back in June of this year, we all expected the official announcement of the iPhone 4's successor. However, we were all disappointed when former CEO Steve Jobs introduced the iOS 5. Despite the disappointment, the introduction of the software update opened our eyes to enhancements and all-new features that the Apple iPhone 5 would come with.
This new iteration to the Cupertino firm's operating system now offers a notification center. This means that you will get all sorts of notifications on the 5th generation smartphone. These include email, SMS, friend requests, and so much more. Better yet, these notifications can be accessed by simply swiping down from the top of the screen. In no way will this interrupt what you were previously doing.
Another new feature is iMessage. This new instant messaging service is similar to the highly popular Blackberry Messenger. It will allow you to send unlimited messages via your 3G network provider or Wi-Fi. It will also allow you to send multi-media, contacts, and locations to anyone who has an Apple device such as the iPad 2. This will allow you to chat away on the go.
If you regularly tweet, you will be happy to know that Twitter is fully integrated into the iOS 5-powered Apple iPhone 5. This will allow users to easily tweet from the smartphone as well as other devices running on the platform. Once you sign in from the settings, you will be able to tweet from the Safari web browser, camera, photos, maps, and even YouTube. If a friend uses Twitter, you can also tweet from your contact list.
The iOS 5 also brings an improved Safari web browser to the smartphone as well as other devices updated to this latest version. This web browser comes with the Safari Reader. This will allow you to view articles without the clutter caused by ads. It also comes with a feature called the Reading List. This will allow you to save articles for future reading.
This new version to Apple's famous operating system will allow you to enjoy freedom from a PC. Device activation and setup of the Apple iPhone 5 can be done right out of the box. This means that you no longer need a computer for software updates. Furthermore, you can back everything up via Apple's new cloud service iCloud.
