Due to certain injuries, the hip joints may get damaged. The hip joint injury is mostly the result of arthritis. This is a disease that is very common, the threat of which starts once one attains the age of forty. Hip replacement surgery is a technique using which it is tried that the patients could get rid of such painful conditions conveniently. Anterior hip replacement surgery is one of two approaches that are mostly taken into consideration in such cases. Another approach is the posterior hip replacement. The level of threat posed to the hip joint is same as that of the knee joints. To treat the knee joints, however, partial knee replacement surgery is used.
Hip replacement surgery is a technique in which the original hip of the patient is replaced with prosthesis. This prosthesis is an artificial hip joint designed to fit the anatomy of the patients. This substitution or replacement is done both from the front as well as from back or sideways. The anterior hip replacement is a process where the hip joints are replaced from the front side, while the back approach is called posterior hip replacement technique. The anterior hip replacement treatment is less invasive in nature and hence most of the patients opt for this very mode of surgery to get better results.
With the help of the anterior hip replacement, the operation is done without any kind of detachment of the gluteal muscle from the pelvis or femur. The orthopaedic surgeons conveniently work through the natural intervals between the muscles without having to detach anything. This is the reason which makes the approach less invasive than the posterior approach. Being minimally invasive, the anterior hip replacement treatment facilitates faster recovery compared to the other approaches. Doing the pre and post exercises scheduled by the therapists make the body of the patients compatible for the adjustment of the artificial hip joints to be inserted during the surgery.
It is anterior hip replacement surgery that during the post-surgical phase allows the patients to move their hip freely and bend it in whichever direction desired. In most of the cases of surgeries, bearing full weight is prohibited, but after this surgery is undertaken, the patients are allowed to bear full weight when they feel comfortable with it. In short, it may be stated that anterior hip replacement fosters quick return to normal functions. The surgeons, however, right after the surgery, instruct the patients to start performing the daily activities slowly without any restrictions. During their short stay at the hospital, the doctors advise the patients to go up and down through stairs to make everything compatible and comfortable for them.
The anterior hip replacement operation, however, should be opted for only when the rehabilitation sessions are found to be ineffective. In addition to the hip joints, the knee joints also make the people suffer from extreme pain. Partial knee replacement surgery is an alternative that is conducted to help patients get rid of their painful phase.
