One of the new players in the optics business is Alpen Optics, a company established in 1997. They develop a wide array of spotting scopes, binocular, rifle scopes as well as many accessories. They strive to provide high quality features that you would only find in more expensive models. For the 2011 catalog, they offer more than 70 products and accessories which are all backed by the manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty. In their lineup of riflescopes they offer two series: Apex and Kodiak.
The Kodiak series offers eight models of riflescopes that feature multi-coated optics, easy adjustable windage and elevation dials, wide angle viewing, fast focus eyepiece, easy to read magnification markings and the proprietary AccuPlex tapered reticles. The Kodiak series of riflescopes can cover a wide array of hunting and shooting conditions, including varmint and big game hunting, slug hunting as well as target shooting for enthusiasts. All of the Kodiak series models are priced for a value conscious shooter.
Here are some of the most important features of the Alpen Kodiak series of rifles:
a) Multi-coated lenses that guarantee maximum light transmission;
b) Fully waterproof, fogproof and shockproof construction;
c) 0-set low profile windage and elevation adjustments;
d) ¼ minute click finger adjustments for brining a high level of accuracy;
e) Fast focus eyepieces;
f) Proprietary AccuPlex tapered reticles;
g) 3-inch eye relief;
h) Black matte, hard coat, nonreflective finish;

All of the models from the Kodiak family of riflescopes come with oversized easy to adjust ¼ minute windage and elevation controls which can be easily adjusted by the hunter even if he is wearing gloves. The proprietary and exclusive AccuPlex tapered reticles allow fast target acquisition even in the dimmest light which will guarantee a greater level of accuracy.
The eight models in the Kodiak series are:
a) Kodiak 2030 – the entry-level model has a 4x magnification level, a 32 mm objective diameter, a 1-inch tube diameter and parallax setting at 100 yards;
b) Kodiak 2035 – available with a magnification level of1.5-4.5x and a 32mm objective lens diameter, this is the second model in the series. Featuring a 4-inch eye relief and W/E adjust click value of ¼” @ 100 yards, it comes with a bundle of features that you would only find in more expensive models;
c) Kodiak 2040 –comes with a 3-9x magnification level and a 32mm objective lens diameter. In addition, it sports a 3.5-inch eye relief and a fast focus system that allows a rapid target acquisition;
d) Kodiak 2045 – magnification level of 3-9x and a 40 mm objective diameter. Fast focus system plus a 3.4-inch eye relief;
e) Kodiak 2050 – it sports a magnification level of 4-12x and has a net weight of 16 oz. Parallax setting is 25-infinity;
f) Kodiak 2055 – boosts a 2.5-10x magnification level and a 3-inch eye relief. Similar with other models, it comes with fully multi-coated lenses;
g) Kodiak 2060 – offered with a 3.5-10x magnification level and a 50mm objective lens diameter, it is one of the most expensive models in the range, after the 2065 model;
h) Kodiak 2065 – the most expensive model in the series, it comes with a magnification level of 6-24x and a 50 mm objective diameter.
All things considered, Alpen has earned the name by making high quality riflescopes that come with many features that you would only find on more expensive models.
