Style. One word. Many meanings. When it comes to craze regarding styles, it talks of fashion, the one looks, the way one presents oneself. And there happens to be no one particular method; no one particular age group following this craze. From head to toe, one can get styled using top brands in india in many different ways, clothing style, hair setting styles, styles to present one-self, etc. The most taken note of is clothing and hair setting styles. A style is followed not just for oneself, but for a public image, showing off a particular attitude, mindset.
A few months ago we were wearing cigarette pants, then came in churidars with short shirts/kurtis. For once, we hated wedge heels, now the trend is to wear them; if you don’t, you are simply out of sync with the latest style. If you opt for a simple hair-do for a party, you are oh-so-not-it! If you get your hair coloured blue, you are the “whoa-wild-gal”! More than anyone, it’s the youth of the country that goes style crazy. There was a time when hiding your underwear was the only logical thing to do, then came a time when showing if off meant you have “it” in you!
The top brands catering to various styles in India, if we talk of the common people, and not of the high-end people who prefer shopping abroad, or even if in India, just shouting to others that they shop abroad, the names that come to mind are Loreal, Revlon, Levis, Zarra, Biba, Looks, Diwan Saheb, Nalli, Red Tape, Woodlands, Pantaloons, Lee, Westside, Gatsby, Lakme, etc. The segment most of these brands cater to is the youth, the college-going students, those who have just entered their professional life; although, no-one can deny, the kitty-party community is no less behind!
The craze of being well-styled is so much there that if a good salon is visited, one can always find it fully occupied by , generally, the youth. Or sometimes those are already counting the number of teeth left with them! The youth generally follows the trend set by Bollywood. Like, for example, on one of my recent visits to a salon equipped with latest beauty salon equipment, I found more guys hovering around there, asking for Ranbir’s “Rockstar” looks. And the well-trained salon staff always give what they are asked for. And why not! They have everything that’s needed to change the looks. From eyelash curler to muscle toners to facial rollers to all kinds of hair spas and rollers to feet massager etc. And now that our earning and spending prowess has increased manifolds, most of these we have them at home! Those steamers, muscle toners, hair curlers, etc. are owned not just by the youth but also by those professionals who hardly have time to visit salons but do have to attend all the parties for sure!
And we thought, all that we had for eye care were those age-old grandma’s specs! Whoever knew that you would be able to change the colour of your rimmed glasses just as you change your clothes?! And better still (moms definitely call it worse rather than better) the colour of your eyes! Now the boring spectacled guy can look like a model with just a change of his eye lens! And not just this, the fashion industry is sensitive enough to offer just as many care products as you use the damaging products. They give you a variety of eye-care products if they tell you how to roughly handle your eyes. They give you hair-colour care shampoo if you love playing with the colour of your hair! That makes the industry caring enough? Or does it just leaves it sheer smart?!
Nothing wrong in being fashionable, but going to a zero-size…that just happens to be way too much, which definitely is bad and avoided. Living in a good style, smartly, makes you confident, and attractive. Style is not just about following fashion trends blindly, it is being comfortable and dignified. in many different ways, clothing style, hair setting styles, styles to present one-self, etc. The most taken note of is clothing and hair setting styles.
