Akron, OH - Christopher Wilkins will lead the Akron Symphony Orchestra in a showcase of Opera’s Greatest Moments on October 15 at The University of Akron’s EJ Thomas Hall. Joining the Akron Symphony Orchestra is internationally acclaimed soprano and Akron resident, Dina Kuznetsova, along with the Akron Symphony Chorus led by Maria Sensi-Sellner.

“Opera’s Greatest Moments is an evening of classic operatic arias, overtures and choruses not only from Italian works of the golden age – though they are included, too – but also from masterpieces of Tchaikovsky, Dvorak and Wagner ,” says Christopher Wilkins, Akron Symphony Orchestra Conductor and Music Director.

Dina Kuznetsova, Akron resident and star of the international operatic stage, will headline a program that features thrilling moments from the roles that have made her voice and her persona known throughout the world.

According to Tim Ashley of The Guardian, "Dina Kuznetsova is glorious in the title role, unleashing torrents of sound and emotion in ways that are breathtaking,” in her performance in Dvorak's Rusalka at the 2011 Glyndebourne Festival in England.

The Akron Symphony Orchestra and Akron Symphony Chorus will dazzle concertgoers with operatic hits and heart-stoppers, including the William Tell Overture and the dramatic storm scene from Verdi’s Otello. Dina Kuznetsova will be joined on stage by baritone Brian Keith Johnson and Emmanuel LeGrair, both fresh from triumphant roles in the Akron Symphony’s recent presentation of Porgy and Bess.

Great seats are still available for Opera’s Greatest Moments. Tickets range from $20 to $50. Discounts are available for students, seniors and groups. To order tickets, call the Akron Symphony ticket office at 330-535-8131, visit akronsymphony.org or contact EJ Thomas Hall at 330-972-7570.
