Afridi and Pakistan Cricket Board Go For Out Of Court Settlement

PCB penalized ex captain Afridi and he set off to court for this purpose after supposedly violating a code of conduct by proclaiming his retirement after he was derelict as one-day captain, and for rank accusation in opposition to the board.

It suspended his central contract and revoked all his no-objection certificates (NOCs), in effect permission slips to play abroad. Ijaz Butt, the chairman of PCB and Shahid Afridi had a meeting in Islamabad. "At this stage the PCB will not make any further comments on the discussions that have been taking place," it said. Pakistan cricket board wants to hold peace and harmony and sort out the matter according to its policies.

Afridi and PCB chairman are now going for out of court settlement and both of them believe to resolve the issue peacefully. The official told AFP on condition of secrecy "Afridi met Butt in Islamabad for an hour,".

"Afridi has promised to withdraw his case but is likely to appear before the disciplinary committee soon and as a result his NOCs will be revived." Afridi was replaced as one-day captain after overtly condemning trainer Waqar Younis of unjustified officious in the assortment procedure for the team's one-day series in the West Indies in April-May. The PCB intended Shahid Afridi to emerge sooner than a punitive board on June 8, but Afridi went to court last week, asking for his NOCs to be recharged. The court postponed the punitive board, asking the PCB to file a comprehensive response in court on June 16, but sustain the verdict to cancel his NOCs.

Due to this, Afridi has been disqualified from playing for Hampshire in the current Twenty20 league in England and his contributing in next month's opening Sri Lankan Premier League is under risk.
