The birds are mean because the nasty pigs have stolen their eggs – how would you feel if some pigs had stolen your means of reproducing your species? So that’s why the birds look as though they are having a very bad feather day. There are vicious looking robins which clearly look as though they mean business. They are out for vengeance and that’s where you, the gamer come in. The egg-snatching swine hide in loosely constructed buildings which you have to destroy to kill the pigs inside them. These edifices are made of wood, stone, ice and other materials which you have to turn into ruins by catapulting the angry birds at them. You have to eliminate all the pigs and still have a bird in your arsenal, or destroy them with your last remaining bird. You have to decide how best to destroy the buildings and at what angle the angry birds should be slung at so this game involves physics and calculations rather than just brute force and luck. It is a game of skill which is why it is so addictive. The pigs come in various levels of nasty, some of which are difficult to eradicate; the ones which wear crowns being the most indestructible. The game can be played on your Android mobile device or on the iPad, and apps can be downloaded. Alternatively you can play online for free and pit your skills against other players. The game has 120 levels and you have to play each level in turn to unlock the next one. However, you can go back and play any of the unlocked levels again to increase your score and star ratings. The birds turn the usual symbols on their heads, with the white dove of peace looking far from pacific, and the robin is not what you would expect on a traditional Christmas card; the bluebird of happiness is particularly devious-looking and can split into several birds to help you in your fight against those egg-stealing swine. If you haven’t tried this marvelous game yet, then now may be a good time to get started on your mission to kill the dirty swine which stole those eggs. However, if you don’t have much time right now, don’t embark on a game as you will want to continue playing.
