Working with MS Outlook is as simple as with any email messaging system. All the emails and other data are saved in Outlook whenever we access it. As the number of emails increase user prefer to delete useless or duplicate entries to manage the storage space. There are two possible ways of email deletion in Outlook. If you click the “delete” option, the email entries are shifted to Deleted Items folder and can be accessed from that folder in case of requirement. On the other hand, if you click “shift+delete” and make the Deleted Items folder empty then the emails are not permanently deleted from Outlook. Only the listing of the particular mail is removed from the index. Though the mails remain in the PST files but, Outlook cannot access them as it becomes unable to find the index entry of the particular item. When the emails are deleted the free space is declared as ‘whitespace’. But if compaction is done with the PST after removing the files then the emails become permanently deleted and cannot be accessed. Compacting the file recovers the whitespace and shrinks the PST files and the deleted emails become permanently lost.
To recover deleted emails following measures can be undertaken:
1.Restore accidentally deleted emails and other items from Deleted Items folder.
2.Restore PST file from backup.
3.Use third-party deleted email recovery software to scan the affected PST file and extract lost items from it.
