There is an old T-shirt saying that states, "No sense in being pessimistic, it wouldn't work anyway." Oddly enough there is a group of people, a large group for that matter, which may agree with this saying. This is the same group that lives life with the "glass is half empty" mentality.
There is an old T-shirt saying that states, "No sense in being pessimistic, it wouldn't work anyway." Oddly enough there is a group of people, a large group for that matter, which may agree with this saying. This is the same group that lives life with the "glass is half empty" mentality. Pessimism seems to be how many people view life these days, of course there are extremes from one end to the next however, we need to learn that the way we view life will directly affect the quality of life we live.

A true pessimistic person is easy to recognize. They are the type that walk into a room and suck the life right out of it with their "poor me" attitude. On the other hand an optimistic walks into a room and it is filled with joy, people want to be around optimistic people because they have a positive view on matters.

Take a look at our history, or anyone's history for that matter, and the people who brought about change were optimistic. They had goals, dreams, and a positive outlook on life. Imagine the setbacks that people like Albert Einstein, Ben Franklin, Leonardo D Vinci, Johannes Brahms, Martin Luther King, etc. had. At times they probably wanted to give up however that wasn't in their nature. Because of their desires they brought great things to the world for all to enjoy.

Living life optimistically isn't about viewing the world through rose-colored glasses, seeing things differently than they really are. It is about expecting the best, having hope, and a positive outlook on life.

Life is short so why live it only expecting the worst? That is no way to thrive and it is no way to raise our young. Remember it is our young that will take this generation to the next level. Some one has to fix the things we break. When we raise optimistic children we are raising the inventors, artists, musicians, leaders, and visionaries of the future.

Optimism does work and it is never too late to start. Here are a few tips for being optimistic.
- First and foremost the world is not out to get you.
- You don't have to live in the past, in fact, you want to let go of the past. It doesn't have to define who you are today.
- Don't be a victim of circumstance. Choose to not be a victim and live as if in control of who you are.
- Realize that life is short so make the most of it.
- Be positive and smile.
