A child may suffer from various psychological disorders arising from either environmental or genetic factors. Though it is not diagnosed among all, but a considerable number of children below 5 or 6 years often get exposed to various such disorders. One of the most complex disorders that have become common among most kids is the attachment disorder.
Attachment disorder basically arises from improper parenting, neglect or child abuse in the early stages of childhood. It is considered to be a continuation of psychological stress caused because of improper relationship building with the primary or secondary caregiver. In this context, there are two types of attachment disorders that are cited below.
Reactive attachment disorder (RAD)
Child behavioral symptoms like anger, arrogance, mood swings, lack of respect for elders, defiance and rebellious attitudes have created real problems for parents to handle their kids. Such attitudinal disorders arise from improper parenting and also hamper the social life of a child. Reactive attachment disorder is one such disorder that basically results from continual negligence of the parents towards the basic needs of the child. Such relationship building blocks may occur because of sorrow or bereavement, lack of caring during the development age of the child or a failed relationship between parents. A child may finally become a loner. It often results in insecurity and lack of social bondage. It may even extend to adulthood and hinders the overall development of the child.
Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)
A defiant child may also suffer from Oppositional defiant disorder that makes him/her an introvert and detached from the entire society. Unlike, RAD, this disorder starts when the child is a toddler. The lack of proper understanding by parents, improper communication as well as other genetic factors results in such problems. A child who is inflicted with such a disorder is rebellious, has no concern for the caregiver, has sleeping problems and is erratic by nature. It is also considered to be an outcome of problems that were not properly solved in the developmental stages of the child.
Over the years, the frequency of these attachment disorders have raised by 22 percent among school children because of the increasing divorce cases, busy schedules of parents and improper care by the secondary caregiver. The RAD consultancy has come up with rare scientific techniques to ensure a problem-free child. A disturbed child is often hospitalized in order to take proper care of his /her other health problems arising from this disorder. A family therapy is also organized in order to strengthen the bondage between the child and the caregivers.
However, the best procedure to ensure a trouble-free child is to take proper care and understand the emotional as well as the security needs of the child during his/her development stages.
