All about Spain

Wonderful beaches, imposing mountains good for skiing, a vast architectural heritage, impressing culture and traditions - they all come together in just one country: Spain. If you wonder when to go to Spain, autumn, spring and early summer are the best times of the year, but winter is also great if you like skiing. Although the weather varies from region to region (some regions enjoy a Mediterranean climate, while others enjoy a sub-tropical one), the temperatures are not extreme, so accommodating to them should not be a problem. Spain is famous mainly for its cities, Barcelona and Madrid, and for flamenco dancing and the bullfights. But Spain is more than that. Few know that Spain hosts the only place in the world where you can go skiing in the morning and bathe in the sea in the afternoon. It is possible in the Sierra Nevada mountain range; at its foothills tourists can bathe in the Mediterranean Sea.

Eating and drinking in Spain

The traditional cuisine is very varied; it is different from region to region, having a few flavors that coincide. It is mainly based on seafood, with different influences from the cultures that once ruled the country. A traditional breakfast is “chocolate con churros”, which is a long doughnut with thick liquid chocolate. “Tostadas con aceite, mantequilla y mermelada” is also very popular; that is, toast with olive oil, butter and jam. Bodegas, cervecerias, tascas and tabernas, these are the places where you can taste the local cuisine, which is very rich in flavors. As for drinking, Spain is famous for its wines; more than half of the vineyards in the European Union are found in Spain.

The bullfights

Spain’s bullfights are unique in the world. “Los toros” have become a big business. The bulls are present in any festival, being the main attraction. Some tourists go to Spain just to see the bullfights (las corridas) or the bull running. The annual bull running festival in Pamplona attracts thousands of people who come to see the bulls, charmed by the adrenaline that floats into the air. The corridas attract many spectators because the show is amazing: in addition to the adrenaline that pumps into your veins because of the dangerous position in which the matador is standing, a band accompanies the entire procession with “passo doble”. If all these sound interesting, don’t wait! Take your friends and family and go to Spain!!!
