Engineers are trained to use acquired scientific knowledge to solve practical and technological problems in the process of design and development. The journey towards becoming an engineer starts in high school. In order to get into engineering college, you need good grades in high school, particularly in math and science subjects. If you are interested in engineering, do your research into the field that you would like to go and see exactly what you will be doing. Have you decided what type of engineer you would like to be yet? There are so many different types to choose from, such as aerospace, environmental, industrial, metallurgical, electrical, aeronautical and so many. Each field has its own unique challenge. Each profession will be different with different results and it is up to the person to reach his or her fullest potential. Having more knowledge in math and physic will help you to shiny in your engineering profession.

Metallurgical engineering is a branch of engineering that deals with the study of chemical and physical behavior of metallic elements and inter-metallic compounds. It is concerned with the study of mixture metals or alloys and everything related to them. Metallurgical engineering is everything about metals and their properties. Metallurgical engineering is divided into three branches. They are, namely, physical metallurgy, extractive metallurgy and mineral processing. Physical metallurgy deals with the development of metallic alloys to be utilized by the various industries for various specific purposes. Extractive metallurgy, deals with the extraction of metals from its ore. Mineral processing involves the obtaining of mineral products from the crust of the earth. Metallurgical engineering is one of the most interesting branches of engineering. Metallic compounds can be found in jewelry, vehicles and many items we use in our everyday life. Every ore need to be slightly treated from its raw form to make it useable.

Aluminum, copper, titanium and nickel are commonly studied and experimented with in metallurgical engineering. They create alloys by mixing these elements and metallic compounds, each of which will have properties and characteristics distinctly different than the others. Metallurgical engineers often create new alloys by mixing various alloys to meet the different needs and specific criteria in metal industry. Metallurgical engineer’s works on alloys to make them with stand high temperature so that they can be used for different applications. Metallurgical engineers are employed in many industries and work for companies that refine, produce, manufacture and distribute metals.
