The Nokia N8 is renowned as one of the most advanced cameraphones currently available. This is no surprise given its 12 megapixel offering which comes with a spec list nearly as long as many rival phones. Xenon flash, multiple shooting effects, auto and touch focus along with a whopping resolution make it a first choice for photography enthusiasts.

Whilst is it an impressive device in terms of its camera, it is all too easy to overlook the rest of the specifications on offer with the Nokia N8. Many reviews and articles focus on the phone’s camera, but here I will take a look at what else the Nokia N8 has to offer.

The Nokia N8 is equipped with a very impressive screen. With a resolution of 360x 640 it provides superb quality and clarity of on screen images and video footage, and even boasts the ability to display HD videos, perfect for playing back your handiwork you have captured on the camera. Also, it is worth mentioning that the screen is made from Gorilla glass; this is shatterproof and likely to appeal to people who have dropped their smartphone in the past, only to end up with a smashed screen.

The Nokia N8 also offers some of the highest levels of onboard storage of any smartphone. A whopping 16 GB is included as standard within the handset, meaning that users are able to store thousands of photos, music tracks, video clips and downloaded applications from the Ovi store. On the rare occasion that further storage should be required, the handset also has a microSD card slot. This can accommodate a card of up to 32 GB, so storage is unlikely to be a concern to any type of user.

Browsing the internet is one of the major appeals of owning a smartphone. The Nokia N8 offers up super fast download speeds of up to 10.2 mega bytes per second when connected to a 3G network. Additionally, Wi-Fi networks can also be utilised to provide a very fast internet browsing experience. The full HTML browser supports flash, so browsing the internet of a Nokia N8 is not dissimilar to that on a laptop. Thanks to dedicated apps, users can easily, read, write and send emails, and carry out social networking through sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Multimedia compatibility also forms a large part of the appeal of the Nokia N8. The internal media player supports numerous music and video file formats, and users have the luxury of streaming their photos, video and music to a compatible TV by virtue of a TV out socket via HDMI, and this even supports Dolby Digital Plus for outstanding sound quality.

As you can see, the Nokia N8 boasts much more than just an impressive digital camera. With deals starting from £20 per month with a free handset, and a number of colours to choose from, the appeal of the Nokia N8 is more widespread than first meets the eye.
