There are a host of GMAT preparation resources available online, in the form of websites where students can take free tests. Test Prep Review is one such website which enables students to practice some sample questions for free online.
This examination consists of three segments: an analytical section, a verbal section and a quantitative section. These three sections make up the GMAT. The test begins with analytical writing, and then moves on to mathematical problems in the quantitative segment, and finally ends with the verbal section. Both the verbal and quantitative sections consist of multiple choice questions.
There are 37 quantitative and 41 verbal questions, and there are 75 minutes allotted to each section. Each of the analytical writing tasks must be completed in 30 minutes. The GMAT is a computer adaptive test, and each test taker’s individual potential can be determined by the computer.
There are a host of books available to the test taker to aid in his/her GMAT test prep, such as the KAPLAN GMAT 800. The Princeton Review has been a book that has been very popular among students preparing for the GMAT.
Pacing and timing are two integral aspects a test taker must keep in mind while preparing for the GMAT. It might be a good idea for GMAT candidates to time themselves while solving previous GMAT tests. A student may also enroll him/herself into a GMAT coaching center where he/she will undergo a systematic, thorough and exhaustive test preparation. This might make the candidates more confident in their approach to the GMAT. There are also a number of websites which enable students to participate in interactive online GMAT coaching classes on the net. ‘GMAT ADVANTAGE- ON SITE’ provides such an opportunity to students who wish to focus and concentrate on their preparation within a short span of time.
There are also some supplemental tutorials for students who wish to do some intensive studying in the fields of mathematics or verbal skills. These lessons help the students tackle more specific issues in their GMAT test preparation. This facility allows those students who wish to have additional lessons in a specific area cope with the material they need to focus on. It is important for test takers to remember that calculators are not allowed to be used during the GMAT test and they must prepare themselves keeping this vital fact in mind.
