Since most of us have to bring in a paycheck, our options are to stay in the job we have, no matter how much we may hate it, or to find something that will let us combine passion and income together.

The ugly truth is that most of us work for money. If that wasn’t a factor, we would quit our jobs and either sit back, relax and do nothing, at least for some time, or we would get a job that would make us happy no matter if it did or didn’t pay. Since, however, most of us have to bring in a paycheck, our options are to stay in the job we have, no matter how much we may hate it, or to find something that will let us combine passion and income together.
If you’d like to change a job to one you would actually like, you may have to get a bit creative. For somebody who likes motorcycles working at a Harley rental store is obvious, and so is a veterinarian’s office for an animal lover, but our passions are not always easily translated into careers, not to mention that often those jobs for hobbyists are poorly paid. Nonetheless, it is possible to find a job you’ll like as long as you’re willing to bend a little and you really look around.
Sometimes the biggest obstacle in finding the job you would feel passionate about is not knowing what your real passion is. You may like a thing or two, but not feel like doing it every day, or you may have a passion but feel you’re not any good at it. If you want t change your work situation at all, you have to get rid of those negative thoughts and answer yourself what it is tat you can’t imagine your life without. It may be cooking, even if you can only make soup; it may be rearranging places, even if you can’t draw a table; it can be horse riding, eve if you live in an apartment building in a city. Knowing your passion is the first step to a better job satisfaction.
Now that you know what you love it’s time to start looking around. Start with what obvious and make wider and wider circles, because if you love food, you can be a chef or a food critic, you can run a restaurant or write a guide to best local restaurants, or you can start a small cooking school. The possibilities are there, you just have to look for them. It should help if you determine which aspect of your passion is the most fun for you. Do you love putting together projects on paper, or would you rather be in the middle of action; is it rescuing and finding homes for stray animals from the shelter, or would you rather be the one caring for the same ones like in a zoo.
It’s not finding a job for a person with passion that is the problem, but realizing what that passion is and finding a career to squeeze it into. But once you know what your passion is, you won’t rest until you get a job that expresses it, whether it’s with motorcycle rentals or repair, interior design or store display arrangement, baking or taking pictures of cakes. Unless, of course, you’d rather stay in your cubicle and complain every day how you hate your job.
