A fine Persian rug can make the space elegant and sophisticated. That said, owning a contemporary Isfahan Persian rug is not only a pleasure but a huge responsibility. No one wants a grubby rug. Just imagine having spent thousands and hundreds of dollars on a carpet only to see it fail in its purpose. Sadly, rugs are a thick pile material, experts at attracting dust, dirt, and other household debris. Not to mention the foot traffic.
Well-maintained Isfahan rugs can certainly bring a room together and elevate the comfort and aesthetic appeal of a room. However, it can happen only when the rugs are clean and neat. Given the price and nature of creation, the stakes are ultimately higher, especially if you own a Persian rug. If you want to protect your investment and enjoy the warmth the rugs give to your living room throughout the year, regular cleaning and maintenance is crucial.
Regular Maintenance
Persian rugs are originated from Iran, and they stand out among traditional carpets due to their design patterns, elaborateness and variety of design. Thanks to the textural designs. However, the accumulation of dirt is more predominant in Persian carpets predominantly. That’s why regular maintenance is pivotal to extend the lifespan of the rugs. You could brush or vacuum the rugs with a suction-only appliance regularly to prevent the build of dust, dirt, stains, and grime which can take a toll on the rugs, causing more damages over time.
In addition to it, rugs should be rotated occasionally to even out the areas of wear and uneven fading that might occur over time. Vacuuming the bag side of the rug is also important as it will keep the rug dust-free and prevent moths from harbouring and damaging the rugs.
If possible, avoid placing heavy furniture on rugs. In case if you can’t avoid, try to place casters under small and sharp pointed feet of the furniture. Avoid walking on the rug with shoes and heels. Instead, use slippers or sandals.
Stain Removal
Staining and spilling are inevitable. No matter how careful you are, spills may happen, staining the carpet. Tough stains will discolour the carpet. However, acting quickly is the key to dealing with carpet stains. As soon as you spill something on the rug, blot the area with kitchen towels, soaking up the liquid until it gets dry. If the spill is involved with food, scrape up the solids and then blot up the damp residue with kitchen towels.
Dealing With Dampness and Heat
Too much moisture can literally damage the carpets as they are made with natural elements, including cotton, wool, and silk. These materials are susceptible to rot through dampness. On the other hand, intense heat is generally bad for rugs as it dries out the natural oils in the wool, making it weak, discoloured, and brittle. Pay attention to the placement of rugs and rotate them often. Clean and dry the Isfahan Persian rug regularly to avoid dampness.
