Choosing a bathroom mirror may not actually be as simple as it might first seem. Knowing exactly what you want from your mirror is the best place to start. Although this might sound a little on the basic side, there are more decisions that come into play when choosing bathroom mirrors than you might think.
Here are some tips that will help you on the right track when it comes to selecting a new bathroom mirror.
How Does Your Bathroom Look?
The first thing to think about revolves around how your bathroom looks. There is quite a bit of difference between a bathroom with a fitted bathroom suite and one with freestanding bathroom furniture.
If you have a fully fitted bathroom with a reasonable amount of storage space then a simple bathroom mirror should do the trick. However, if you lack storage space then it might well be better to go for a combination unit. Something along the lines of mirrored bathroom wall cabinets will be better to help to keep the bathroom essentials neat and tidy.
Existing Lighting
Many bathrooms suffer from poor or inadequate lighting. If this is the case it is likely that wherever you put the bathroom mirror there could be shadows cast across it. Upgrading your bathroom lighting might be something that you are happy to undertake; if not then a unit with its own light might be better.
Mirrored bathroom wall cabinets with lights work well if your aim is to bring a little more illumination into this particular area of the bathroom. However, it is a good idea to check that there is a nearby power supply before proceeding.
For the more environmentally conscious there are even bathroom mirrors with led lights. Not only will you get the benefit from the perfect reflection you will also be using less power to run it.
Shape and Size
Another aspect that needs to be right is the actual dimensions of the chosen bathroom mirror. There is no point going out and buying the largest one possible only to find that it completely dominates your bathroom, unless that is your aim of course.
Some plainer bathrooms benefit from mirrors that look a little different. These can be described as falling into the categories of either funky bathroom mirrors or art deco bathroom mirrors.
If you have a large wide space reserved for your mirror then it will probably works better with either landscape types or oval bathroom mirrors. This helps to keep your new mirror in check with the remainder of your bathroom space. Of course, if the space is narrow then a portrait mirror is likely to produce better results.
A final point on mirror selection relates to bathrooms that feature larger basins. If you have a bathroom that allows two people to use the basin at the same time then both parties should be able to use the mirror at the same time too. An extra wide bathroom mirror would be a great selection here.
Selecting bathroom mirrors might not be as straightforward as you first think, but hopefully these tips will help you to make the right decision.
