A. Healthy food

1. Vitamin A. Typically the first ingredient on the label of multivitamin bottles, is very important to keeping your eyes healthy. You can find good source of vitamin A in chicken liver, milk, cheese, butter. Vitamin A can also be obtained indirectly from colorful fruits and vegetables such as broccoli, squash, bell peppers, carrots and tomatoes.

2. Grains, nuts and seeds. These foods are some of the most complete and nutrient-rich foods you can eat. They are some of nature’s most concentrated food sources. They contain essential fatty acids (such as
the omega-3 EFA’s) which are important for good vision, among other things.

3.Legumes. Legumes plays an important role in eye health. Legumes are great source of B vitamins Biotin and choline. Legumes can be added in your daily diet by using them in soups, salads, side dishes, and in both meat-based and vegetable-based main course recipes.

Some of the most popularly known legumes include peas, beans, soybeans, groundnuts, lentils, etc.

4. Beans. Beans are good source B vitamin including folic acid. Folic acid is important for maintaining overall eye health. Experts have found that some patients with visual problems improve when folic acid is added to their diet.

5. Garlic and onions. Garlic and onions are rich in sulfur, which is necessary for the production of glutathione, an important antioxidant for the eye — and the entire body. Garlic can reduce cholesterol and improve circulation. Optimal blood flow in the tiny blood vessels of the eye is very important for good vision.

6. Blueberries, grapes and raisins. These foods contain anthocyanins, which improve night vision. A cup full of blueberries, huckleberry jam, or a 100 mg bilberry supplement should improve dark adaptation within 30 minutes.

7. Eat more fish. Fish is a rich source of omega-3 essential fatty acids, including DHA. DHA is known to be very important for the eyes and the brain. It is thought to lower eye pressure in glaucoma and it is an essential part of the cells in the retina. You can obtain it naturally in such fatty cold-water fish as salmon, mackerel, herring, and sardines. Go one better, and get at least 1,000 mg of DHA from cod-liver oil. In one study, the combination of fish-based omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) in conjunction with acetyl-l-carnitine (1,000 mg) and coenzyme Q10 (100 mg) improved and stabilized vision in the elderly.

8. Spinach. Spinach is a good source of vitamin A. Spinach also contains other important eye nutrients including lutein and zeaxathin.

B. Eye Exercises

Here is a list of all the eye exercises that you can do which wil help to improve your eye’s vision. Take some of these which you like and do them regularly. You will definitely see some improvements.

• Close both the eyes very tightly by shutting the lids firmly. Open them suddenly which allows you to feel the stretch. Once open arch your brows and stretch your face. Repeat this several times a day.

• Look as far as possible and inhale then look down as far as possible and exhale. Blink your eyes more than dozen times. Do the same procedure by turning to your left and right then diagonally up to left, down to right, up to right and down to left followed by rapid blinking.

• Rotate your eyes in all the directions. Slowly and steadily concentrate one eye at a time. Do this exercise more than dozen times and try doing this with your eyes shut.

• By using palming which can be stated as a revised version of the thousand-year-old yoga tradition known was Hatha Yoga. It relieves strain and stress from your mind and eyes which needs the required break. For this you have to warm your hands by rubbing them together vigorously. Once it’s warm cover the eye without touching the eyelids. This relaxes the nerves and helps in blood circulation.

• You can also try sunning which means to use suns light for your eyes. Move your head from side to side for the heat to benefit the eyes. After a while try stretching the eyes to allow more sunlight to your eyes. Exposure to sunlight is healthy in moderation and helps in the “manufacture” of vitamin D by the body. Too much exposure to bright sunlight is harmful and can cause damage. Wide brimmed hats and UV-filtering sunglasses provide adequate protection.
