Performance wear or sports clothing in the recent years have evolved into designs that provide sportsmen and women various functions and uses. Sportswear manufacturers mainly aim for the clothing to be made of durable material so that it will resist the forceful nature of many sports played today.

Taking a look at Rugby, which is a much practised game in many parts of the world, the rugby kit has to be manufactured using resilient material due to the tough outlook of the game.

Rugby shirts which are often referred to as rugby jerseys need to be able to resist the tugging and crushing that is always a focal point in the game of rugby. These need to be definitely light weight, strong and comfortable at the same time. Traditional jerseys were mainly made of cotton which was not suitable for players if the weather was against them. Water would soak in and in turn the material would often get quite heavy while the player will find it uncomfortable to continue with his performance.

With the latest technology, new raw materials were introduced and kits that are light weight and water resistant are being manufactured. These synthetic fabrics are mainly a mix between cotton and polyester. Acrylic fabric is also used which is of great assistance to the players. Making sure that the jersey is a perfect fit is also a definite must. If it’s too small there will be a tendency to rip off while playing, and if it’s too big your opponents will be able to tackle you quite easily by tugging.

The main reason for using synthetic fibre is that it’s harder to get a grip of due to the slipperiness of the material while also it’s less absorbent when it comes to mud and water. Rugby matches are played mainly during winter and even the rain does not make it an excuse to halt the game that has already started.

Rugby is a completely physical and full-contact sport that requires immense fitness while also enduring a few knocks as well. But with the proper kits and equipment players can reduce the chance of injuries and thoroughly enjoy the game to the best of their ability.
