If you are a fan of Microsoft's mobile platform, you must have been a fan of the HD7. This was one of HTC's top smartphones powered by WP7. Since this phone has been around since October of 2010, you must now be looking for an upgrade. Fortunately, the Taiwanese phone giant has a new Windows-based handset that you may be interested in. This is the HTC Radar. Let us compare the two and see the difference.

The new smartphone comes with a smaller display compared to the earlier model. It sports a 3.8 inch display compared to the 4.3 inch display on the Windows Phone 7-powered handset. Both offer a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels.

When it comes to internet capabilities, both share the same high-speed internet capabilities. Both can download at 14.4 mbps and upload at 5.76 mbps. This will allow you to browse the web and download apps at lightning-speed.

Both handsets come with 5 megapixel cameras. Both will allow you to capture images and record videos with their dual-LED flash. Both phones are capable of recording videos in 720p. This simply means that you will get to enjoy more from high-definition.

The two smartphones come packed with similarly clocked processors under the hood. The HTC Radar comes with a 1 GHz Scorpion single-core processor Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon chipset. The HD7 comes with a 1 GHz Scorpion single-core processor Qualcomm QSD8250 Snapdragon chipset. Although, they come with different chipsets, they both offer the same amount of performance.

Coupled with their single-core processors, the two smartphones come with the same amount of RAM. They both sport 512 MB of RAM that will further boost performance. You are sure to enjoy processing tasks at blinding speeds.

It looks like this new handset doesn't have more to offer. However, there is something the HTC Radar has to offer that the HD7 cannot. It has everything to do with software. The new phone comes pre-installed with the latest iteration of the Windows Phone platform.

The previous model comes pre-loaded with the WP7. The newer phone comes pre-loaded with the Windows Phone 7.5 or the Mango version. This is the latest mobile OS Microsoft has to offer. This new version offers Live Tiles that update everything from social feed to news feeds and from the weather to apps. In other words, every update can be seen on the home screen.

With the HTC Radar, you will get to enjoy everything Microsoft's Windows Phone platform has to offer.
