1. Tulip:
Back in the 17th century, tulip bulbs were more expensive than gold in Holland! Tulips represent immortality, love and life. There appeared a phenomenon what was known to be the ‘tulip mania’ during the 1630s at Western Europe. This was when tulip became worthy and was even being considered as a form of currency.
2. Bamboo
Bamboo flowers are very rarely seen. Bamboos develop flowers every 65 or 120 years. What’s intriguing is that the species develop flowers pretty much at the same time, irrespective of its time or location anywhere around the world. Bamboo also releases 30% more oxygen to the atmosphere and absorbs more carbon dioxide, when compared to others.
3. Lotus:
Lotus was used for burial rituals and was also considered a sacred flower by ancient Egyptians. The flower is interpreted as a symbol of resurrection by them, whilst others consider it as the embodiment of purity, beauty and grace.
4. Sunflower:
Sunflowers showcase a great phenomenon called heliotropism, by which the head of them follows and positions according to the movement of the sun. The head of sunflowers are made with several tiny flowers called the florets.
5. Agave:
The Agave is also called as the century plant because of the fact that it doesn’t grow any flowers for several years. They would flower only once and will die soon after, a process called as monocarpic.
6. Rose:
Certain species of rose is very rich in vitamin C, which is used to make jams and jellies. Ancient Egyptians also used roses for funerals where they would make wreath out of it and was also considered a sacred flower at the time.
7. Titan Arum:
Titan Arum is the world’s largest flower having a height and circumference of more than 3 metres. It is popularly known as the corpse flower owing to its strong smell of a rotten flesh.
