For a large number of students, studying medicine and dentistry is a dream come true which not only the students seek with desperation, but the parents are also quite interested. It is not a surprise that the most coveted subject in the country presently is that of MBBS in different medical colleges and the exam for the maximum number of seats all over the country is that of All India Pre-Medical Test or AIPMT.
Though there had been the entrance tests for admissions to various medical colleges, the AIPMT has been recently refurbished to give a better opportunity to the students interested for pursuing the medical courses. Every year, since the inception of this particular entrance exam, there has been a steady increase in the number of students applying for the entrance test. The AIPMT 2012 will be no different and rather there will be a higher number of students going for the test, than ever before.
Although studying medicine and related courses has been in favour since many years, the AIPMT has redefined the manner in which the students are looking at the exam. It is not only a great means to start studying for a respectable and honoured profession, but there are other reasons also due to which the AIPMT 2012 will be so much important for the students.
Highly competitive – Due to the huge prospects of a career that is respected and well paid, the students are eager to join a medical college. This causes the stiff competition that is seen for the AIPMT exam and the scenario will be more serious as students from various parts of the country and colleges will compete for the AIPMT 2012. The huge number of students obviously make the cut offs to go very high, and most of the rankings are declared with differences of only fraction of marks.
Plenty of seats – There are about 127 medical colleges and 30 dental colleges all over the country, except the states of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, which are included under the spectrum of AIPMT 2012, and each college has a reservation of 15% for the students taking admissions through the entrance exam. This means that probably there are 15-20 seats in each colleges into which the students who will be appearing in the AIPMT in the year 2012, will be able to choose from. Since, the colleges included under the spectrum of AIPMT are present in almost all the states of the country, the total number of seats goes into many thousands, which increases the chance of each of the student.
Freedom to choose – By the dint of the AIPMT exam, the students will be able to take admissions in colleges of their choice. In many cases, students tend to stay in their own states, thereby making it easier for them to adjust and carry on their medicine studies. The choice of colleges is entirely based on the ranks and therefore, people can choose the college as per their comfort and convenience.
Apart from these three factors, there are many other reasons for the AIPMT 2012 to be one of the most demanded entrance exams. With all the factors working together, the students will have to work very hard to edge over others and get admitted into a college of their choice in this prestigious and meritorious course.
