Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a difference in your camping experience. Enjoy this list of our favorite tips and tricks for RV camping.
1. Place moth balls around the propane lines for the water heater and refrigerator to prevent spiders. You can also place comet with bleach around entrance ways to prevent ants.
2. Get plastic storage bins to place food items in to keep them from rolling around in the refrigerator. You can do the same in your medicine cabinet using plastic cutlery organizers. Saves a lot of time and money not having to worry about reorganizing or replacing abused food.
3. Bring a step-stool so you can clean windows and make repairs if necessary. This may seem simple, but you’d be surprised how many people don’t think about it.
4. Bring a roll of quarters in case you run across parking meters, coin-operated showers and laundry facilities, or toll roads. There’s nothing worse than having to scour your RV/pockets/purse for that elusive change.
5. Place dryer sheets in drawers, closets and the like to keep from getting that “closed up” smell. It’s inexpensive, and space saving.
6. Use velcro tape to secure objects inside the RV. This allows things to be out and handy, while preventing them from rolling around while you’re traveling.
7. Carry around a box of powdered dishwasher soap for when you want to clean out your storage tanks. Pour a handful of the soap down with a few gallons of water and drive around for a bit. Empty the tanks when you get to your next destination.
8. If campfire cooking, rub a bar of soap over the outside of your pots and pans. This will make the soot easier to wash off later on.
9. With extensive traveling, purchase edible souvenirs that won’t take up extra space. This also allows you to enjoy the local flare as you move from place to place.
10. Consider installing solar panels on your to roof to power small appliances, saving energy costs. This is especially good for “Boondockers” who don’t camp where there are hook-ups available.
