Founded in 1985 by New York State Licensed Psychologist Dr. Howard M. Rombom, Behavioral Medicine Associates (BMA) of New York provide specialized psychological services including evaluation, treatment, cognitive rehabilitation and pain management to injured workers through the New York State Worker's Compensation Program. Workers who have suffered job related injuries, accidents, disease or illnesses such as slip and falls, trauma, motor vehicle accidents, pedestrian accidents or head injury often experience psychological or "behavioral" issues in addition to the medical problems for which they are already being treated. Some of these psychological problems include fear, stress, anxiety disorders (post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder, and specific phobias) depression, sleep disorders, adjustment disorders, anger issues, psychosocial problems, relationship issues, caregiver distress, difficulty coping with disability, injury and chronic pain.
