Slovenia Travel: Ptuj– a Perfect Day Trip from Austria
After my upper Styrian driving tour the day before, my brother and I headed out on another driving tour, this time going south to Lower Styria, a region located in today’s Slovenia. Being located in the southern part of Austria and in the heart of Europe, it is extremely easy to go on local excursions as the distances are very short and the road systems are well developed. Today our destination was Ptui, a town with about 23,000 residents, that is the capital of Lower Styria.

Spain Travel – Exploring the Asturian Coast, Colombres, El Pindal and the Cares Mountain Valley
My last full day in Asturias had arrived. I had long wanted to travel to this northern Spanish mountain region, and my six days here had not been a disappointment. Over the last few days I had had a chance to visit some of the large cities in Asturias (Oviedo and Gijón), I had thoroughly explored the mountain regions in Teverga and the Picos de Europa, and yesterday I made my way to the coast to the beautiful waterfront towns of Ribadesella and Llanes.

Spain Travel – Asturias: Exploring Llanes, a Country Drive in the Mountains

I was going to stay overnight near Llanes in a small country hotel called “la Posada de Babel” in the village of La

Spain Travel – Asturias: The Tito Bustillo Prehistoric Cave and a Scenic Walk in Ribadesella
Well, my time in the high mountains of the Asturian Picos de Europa was over. I checked out of the Hotel La Cepada, my cozy mountain abode with the picturesque views of the town of Cangas de Onís, got into my car and drove northwards towards the Atlantic coastline. After two days with rather poor weather, the skies were clearing up nicely and a gorgeous sunny day was in store for me.

Spain Travel – Asturias: Exploring the Picos de Europa
My day began with a nice breakfast overlooking the town of Cangas de Onís, a pretty town of about 6700 people that is embedded in the Picos de Europa region in the northern Spanish province of Asturias. I was staying at the Hotel La Cepada whose elevated location on a hillside provides amazing views over the town below. The weather had cleared up since yesterday and fortunately the rain had stopped.
