Aprons have been a cook’s best friend for hundreds of years. Indeed aprons were used by both men and women long before they were seen on television in the 1950’s. In the olden days it used to be associated with women who were supposed to be the homemakers and one rarely saw them without an apron. It used to be longer than it is today almost like an extra garment worn above the dress.
